Energy Efficiency: EPC

Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

Introduced in 2007 as a legal requirement to selling, letting or construction of a property, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) measures energy efficiency of a property on a scale of A-G. Outputs are measured in carbon emissions (CO).

How does an EPC work?

The ratings are alphabetical, starting with an ‘A’ for the most energy efficient homes, dropping to the bottom rating of ‘G’ for the worst performing homes. The EPC will also provide guidelines (including estimates of cost) on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
